NO2 Sensor

Highly Precise

Prana Air’s Nitrogen Dioxide (NO₂) Sensor Module provides reliable detection with a resolution of 0.01 ppm. Its compact size makes it suitable for custom designs, research, and testing setups.

Nitrogen Dioxide Sensor Introduction

The Prana Air NO2 sensor uses a special type of technology called electrochemical sensing to detect nitrogen dioxide (NO2) gas in the air. These sensors are very accurate and have been trusted in many research projects. They are reliable, durable, and built to work well for a long time, even in tough indoor and outdoor conditions.NO2 (nitrogen dioxide) gets into the air mostly from burning fuel—like from cars, buses, trucks, and factories. It helps create other types of air pollution and is harmful to health. Breathing it can lead to lung infections, asthma, and it can even reduce crop growth in farming.

NO2 Sensor Variant A

The Prana Air CO sensor uses advanced electrochemical technology to detect carbon monoxide (CO) in the air. It works by taking a small sample of air and reacting with it inside the sensor. When CO is present, a chemical reaction happens that creates a small electric current. The strength of this current shows how much carbon monoxide is in the air — the more CO, the stronger the signal.

Sensor Calibration

To make sure the NO₂ sensor gives accurate results, it is tested and adjusted in a special setting with controlled conditions. These include a temperature of about 23°C, moderate humidity, normal air pressure, and gentle airflow. Calibration means checking if the sensor's reading matches the correct value. To do this, the sensor is exposed to a known amount of NO₂ gas. A certified gas cylinder (called the NIST standard) is used to compare and adjust the sensor so it gives correct readings.

What is NO₂?

Ammonia source image

NO₂, or Nitrogen Dioxide, is a harmful gas that gets into the air when fuels like petrol, diesel, or gas are burned. It mostly comes from cars, trucks, factories, and power plants. Breathing in too much NO₂ can cause coughing, breathing problems, and make asthma worse. That's why it's important to check and control how much NO₂ is in the air.

What technology is used in the NO2 sensor?

Technology working image

Our Nitrogen Dioxide sensor uses a simple method called electrochemical gas sensing. When NO₂ gas comes in contact with the sensor, it causes a tiny chemical reaction inside. This reaction produces a small electrical current, which is then measured to determine how much NO₂ is in the air. This method is both accurate and reliable, making it a trusted way to monitor air quality.
